As a Cyber Security Intern, you’ll join a dynamic security team dedicated to protecting company systems, data, and infrastructure from cyber threats. You will be exposed to various domains such as threat detection, vulnerability management, compliance, and incident response. This role provides hands-on experience working closely with our Engineering, Operations, and Security teams in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Security Monitoring & Incident Support
- Monitor security events and alerts through dashboards and tools (e.g. SIEM).
- Assist in identifying, investigating, and escalating suspicious activities.
- Participate in incident response and documentation of findings.
2. Vulnerability & Risk Assessment
- Assist in performing internal security assessments and vulnerability scans.
- Collaborate on penetration testing exercises to identify weaknesses.
- Help track and manage vulnerabilities and ensure follow-ups for remediation.
3. Security Compliance & Policy Support
- Assist in reviewing and updating information security policies and procedures.
- Support compliance checks against frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, or internal standards.
- Contribute to audit preparation and internal security checklists.
4. Awareness & Research
- Stay up to date with the latest cyber threats, attack trends, and security best practices.
- Help prepare security awareness materials or short training snippets for internal staff.
- Research new tools and techniques to improve RunCloud’s security posture.
5. Collaboration & Documentation
- Assist with documentation of security incidents, configurations, and findings.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering and IT teams to ensure security measures are implemented.
- Maintain clear records of tasks and processes using tools like Confluence and Dropbox.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or final year student in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field.
- Basic knowledge of Linux systems, SQL, networking, and system administration.
- Familiarity with OWASP Top 10, SIEM concepts, or basic security tools (e.g., antivirus, firewalls).
- Exposure to web technologies (HTML, CSS, PHP, Laravel, WordPress, JavaScript) is an advantage.
- Understanding of common vulnerabilities and threats (e.g., XSS, CSRF, SQLi).
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and analytical mindset.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Team player with a willingness to learn and contribute.
- Candidates should be able to work in Tamarind Square, Cyberjaya.
