RunCloud uses automated notifications to keep you informed about server activity and health. Servers use your account’s global notification settings by default, but you can create different settings for individual servers.

For example, you could send routine deployment notifications to a development channel, while sending server health alerts or backup failure notifications to an operations or security channel. This helps each team receive the notifications relevant to them.

Managing Account-Level Notifications

RunCloud provides a centralized area to manage your notification channels and global preferences. 

To manage your global settings, navigate to Settings > Notifications in your RunCloud dashboard.

Notification Channels

The “Channels” section is where you configure notification destinations such as Slack, Telegram, Discord, or email. Once you configure a channel here, it becomes available in your server-specific notification settings.

Global Preferences

“Global Preferences” act as the default configuration for all servers linked to your account. If you don’t define a custom rule for a specific server, it will use these settings automatically. This is the simplest way to manage alerts if you want to use the same notification settings across all your servers. 

Resource Level Preferences

In addition to configuring notifications for specific events, you can customize server health thresholds for individual servers. Under “Resource Level Preferences”, you can view the servers connected to your Workspace and manage their notification settings individually. 

How to Configure Server Notifications

You can manage these settings individually for each server in RunCloud. 

  1. Navigate to Settings > Notifications > Resource Level Preferences
  2. Find the server you want to configure, click the … button, then select Edit. 
  3. In “Server Notification Preferences”, locate the notification type you want to modify, such as Backup Failed or SSH Login Detected. 
  4. Use the dropdown menu under “Notify me” to select your preferred notification channel.
  5. Set the toggle to On to enable the notification for this server. 

You can also configure when RunCloud sends server health alerts. Set individual thresholds for:

  • Load: Server load threshold.
  • Memory: Percentage of RAM in use.
  • Disk: Percentage of disk space in use.

Snoozing Health Notifications

You can temporarily pause server health notifications using the “Snooze Health Notification” setting. Select a duration from the “Snooze For” dropdown, then click Save Settings. 

Resetting Preferences

To remove your server-specific notification settings, click Reset All Preferences. The server will then use your account’s current Global Preferences.
