RunCloud provides an API that offers the flexibility to manage your servers programmatically. This allows you to integrate RunCloud into your automation workflows, enabling tasks such as spinning up servers, deploying applications, and managing configurations without needing to interact with the dashboard.
While the RunCloud dashboard covers most server management needs, heavy automation workflows may require extensive use of APIs. To ensure stability and fair usage, RunCloud subscriptions include a monthly API call quota. For example, the Enterprise plan includes 400,000 API calls/month.
If your automation needs grow beyond your plan’s default quota, you can easily increase your API capacity using add-ons without changing your primary subscription.
Increasing Your API Limit
You can purchase additional API calls in blocks ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 calls per month. This allows you to scale your throughput on demand.
To add more API capacity to your account:
- Log in to your RunCloud dashboard.
- Navigate to the Billing Section in the left menu.
- Locate the section for API usage or subscription details.

- Click on the Increase API Usage Limit button.
- Select the add-on amount that fits your workload (e.g., “10,000 additional calls”).
- Click Proceed to confirm the adjustment and update your subscription.

Once confirmed, your API limit will be immediately updated to reflect the additional capacity.
Understanding Your Quota
Your API limit resets monthly based on your billing cycle. If you use the API for intensive tasks, it is recommended to monitor your usage periodically. This API limit consists of two parts:
- Default Quota: Determined by your current plan (e.g., 400,000 calls/month for Enterprise).
- Add-ons: Supplemental packs that stack on top of your default quota.
You can view your current quota usage by navigating to ‘Limits & Usage’ in the left menu and scrolling down to the ‘Developer API’ section.

Prorated Billing for Yearly Subscriptions
If you are currently on a yearly subscription and decide to purchase an API add-on in the middle of your term, you will not be charged the full annual price of the add-on immediately. Instead, you will pay a prorated amount covering only the remaining duration of your current billing cycle.
The full annual cost of the add-on will only be applied when your subscription renews for the following year.
Example Scenario
In this example, your Enterprise plan currently includes 400,000 API calls/month. You are configuring your plan to include an additional 10,000 API calls/month, bringing your total limit to 410,000 API calls/month.
While the annual cost of the add-on is $120.00, purchasing it partway through the year results in a reduced “Amount to pay today”. Since you are adding the capacity mid-cycle, your immediate invoice reflects only the time remaining until your renewal date.
This one-time charge will be applied to your default payment method using your current billing details immediately upon confirmation.
