RunCloud lets you back up your servers to local storage or connect external cloud services like Dropbox.

This guide shows you how to link your Dropbox account so your backups are saved securely in the cloud.

  1. To begin, log in to your RunCloud account and open the “Third-Party Integrations” tab in your workspace settings.
  2. Next, look for the Dropbox integration option on this page.
  1. Select “Dropbox” from the list of integrations, then click “Add Integration” in the modal that appears.
  1. You need to give this connection a helpful name on the next screen. This name will appear in your RunCloud dashboard for your reference. If you plan to link multiple Dropbox accounts or other storage providers, choose a unique name to easily distinguish between them later.
  2. Now, click the button labelled “Link Dropbox Account“.
  1. After you click the “Link Dropbox Account” button, RunCloud will redirect you to the official Dropbox website. You will need to enter your Dropbox username and password to log in. Please be assured that RunCloud does not store your Dropbox login credentials.
  2. Dropbox will display a security notice asking if you trust the application (RunCloud). Since you are intentionally setting this up, review the information and press “Continue“.
  1. Dropbox will ask you to allow access to:
    • Edit and view files in the Apps › RunCloud Backup folder
    • View your basic account info (name and email)
  2. These permissions are required to manage and store your backups in Dropbox. Click “Allow” to continue.
  3. After granting permission, Dropbox will automatically redirect you to your RunCloud dashboard. RunCloud will then automatically save this newly established integration in your account settings.
    1. You should now see your newly linked Dropbox account listed under your 3rd party integrations in RunCloud.
    1. From this point forward, when configuring a backup for one of your servers, you can choose where to store it. Select the “External Storage” tab during backup creation. Click the dropdown menu provided to see the name you assigned to your Dropbox integration. Select it to have RunCloud send your backups directly to your linked Dropbox account.
