If you are using RunCloud to manage and monitor your servers, you can get important information about your server’s health and performance directly from dashboard.
Server Health Status
RunCloud collects and displays your server health data every minute. This data includes the load average, memory usage, and disk usage of your server. You can see the latest data by refreshing the webpage after a minute has passed. The date and time shown on the webpage are based on your server time.
RunCloud also alerts you when your server health status becomes critical. This happens when your server exceeds any of the following thresholds for the resources:
- Load > 5
- Memory Usage > 99%
- Disk Usage > 90%
When this happens, RunCloud will send you a notification through the channels that you have assigned, such as email or Slack. The notification will tell you what resource is exceeding the threshold, and what action you need to take to prevent potential failure.
RunCloud will keep sending you alerts every hour until the issue is resolved. You can also adjust the alert threshold values for load, memory, and disk in the notification settings. This way, you can customize the level of sensitivity and frequency of the alerts according to your preferences.
Server Load Average
This section shows the load average of your server. This is a measure of how busy your server is, based on the number of processes that are running – or waiting to run.
A low load average means that your server is not overloaded and can handle more requests. A high load average means that your server is struggling and may need more resources or optimization.
The value shown here is the load average for the last minute. This means that it is an average of how many processes were running or waiting to run in each second of the last minute.
You can also see the load averages for the last hour and day by changing the setting from drop-down. These values give you a longer-term view of how your server load changes over time.
Server Memory Usage
This section shows the memory usage of your server. This is how much of your server’s RAM (Random Access Memory) is being used by the processes running on it. RAM is a fast and temporary storage that your server uses to perform tasks.
A low memory usage means that your server has enough RAM to run smoothly. A high memory usage means that your server may be running out of RAM and may need to use swap space, which is slower and can affect performance.
The value shown here is the percentage of RAM used by your server. You can also see the amount of RAM used and available in megabytes by hovering over the graph. The graph also shows you a chart of the memory usage for the selected duration.
Server Disk Usage
This section shows the disk usage of your server. This is how much of your server’s disk space (hard drive or SSD) is being used by the files and data stored on it. Disk space is a permanent storage that your server uses to save files and data.
A low disk usage means that your server has enough disk space to store more files and data. A high disk usage means that your server may be running out of disk space and so you may need to either delete some files or upgrade to a larger disk.
The value shown here is the percentage of disk space used by your server. You can also see the amount of disk space used and available in gigabytes by hovering over the graph. The graph also shows you a chart to help visualize the disk usage trend for the selected duration.
